Teaching with Primary Sources Teacher Librarian Day 2012: Primary Passion

Teaching with Primary Sources – Colorado would like to announce that registration for Teacher Librarian Day 2012 is now open. Since the inception of the TPS program in 2004, this conference has consistently gained momentum and is now viewed as our keystone event. This year we are again adopting a very successful format used by the world-renowned TED conference (talks from TED may be viewed for free here: http://www.ted.com). The format will consist of a suite of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations, and performances on a variety of subjects to foster learning, inspiration, and wonder -- and to provoke conversations that matter.

Many speakers confirmed, including:

·         Author & Public Speaker – Jeff Vankooten - http://jeffvankooten.com
·         The Primary Source Librarian – Mary Johnson - http://www.maryjjohnson.com/primarysourcelibrarian
·         Teen Tech Guru – Dave Moyer –  http://davemoyer.org/home
·         2011 Colorado Teacher of the Year Michelle Pearson
·         Director of the Council on 21st Century Learning Stevan Kalmon

As always, sub reimbursement will be available for the first 100 registrants and breakfast and lunch will be provided.REGISTER NOW @ http://tld2012.eventbrite.com

300 Miles to Freedom
New Resource About Underground Railroad & African American History

A new film has been made by educators called 300 Hundred Miles To Freedom on the inspiring life of John W. Jones, who escaped to freedom on the Underground Railroad. We'd like a chance to share it with you, and explore how this film and the filmmakers could be used as resources by teachers and students. A powerful addition to any course focusing on the experiences of African Americans in 19th century America, 300 Hundred Miles To Freedom brings an important piece of history alive and helps viewers appreciate the great challenges and triumphs many faced as they pursued freedom. We'd be happy to send you a link to preview the film if you are interested.

Thanks so much for your time and attention,
